Welcome back to school!! I got the priviledge to meet several of my new students last night!! I am looking forward to meeting the rest of them on Monday. I can already tell it's going to be a GREAT year!!

End of the year

Positive Happenings

TPRI testing went well, all students showed growth. Our Field Trip is coming up on the 30th. We are going to the Hooks stadium and Children's Museum. Looking forward to it. :)

With just a few days left before TAKS and one six weeks left to go, our great TEAM has done an excellent job of preparing our students! Thank you to EVERYONE (Pk-3) for your committment and determination to have ALL students succeed. And to our 3rd graders--- You all are awesome and have worked extremely hard this year. Let's all have a successful last six weeks and FINISH STRONG!!

It's the end of the 5th Six weeks. Wow, how time flies! Just one week til 3rd grade TAKS as well! 3rd graders are ready to attack the TAKS! 1st Graders are Awesome!!!

1st Grade has been working hard on their Six Weeks Tests this week. 1st Grade teachers are seeing a transformation. 2nd Grade here they come!!

Exciting activities are in store for the kinergarten classes! This week we will visit the Texas State Aquarium. We have been studying about sealife and this will give us an upclose look at all the creatures we have studied.
At the end of the month is our Splash Day! This is a fun day of water activities. It gives the teachers and students time to just play around and be silly. There is nothing more fun than squirting your teacher with a water gun!
Our kinder kids have worked very hard this year and deserve some fun activities.

Benchmarks

Our Wood River 3rd graders worked REALLY hard Wednesday and Thursday. They have been benchmark testing. If you see a 3rd grader PLEASE pat them on the back - they deserve it!!! Our Wood River 3rd graders are AWESOME!!!!!

Exciting Second Semester Fine Arts Activities

Looking forward to an exciting second semester filled with fun activities, great students and an awe-inspiring staff. Third grade students will be starting recorders; Second grade is studying orchestra instrument families; First grade and Kindergarten will work on musical programs as we continue to explore the elements of music, art and drama; and the Wood River Primary Second and Third Grade Choir will begin its fourth year. We're off and running!

GOOD FEELINGS FRIDAY

Today is the day to magnify all the good feelings within you. As you move through the day, give all of your attention to how you are feeling. Keep filling yourself up with more good feelings and more good feelings! Fill your day with what makes you feel good. Listen to your favorite song, eat your favorite food, see your favorite friend! Do the things you love and that make you feel so good that you are brimming over with good feelings. Your good feelings will transfer to your students and you will have a triffic Friday! Doesn't it feel good to work at Wood River?

Thank you to everyone who is a part of our winning team!!! We are truly blessed to have a school with such a positive environment! Here's to a fantastic second semester! The first was fast and furious and the second will be over just as quick. Thank you to everyone for always putting kids first! Wood River Elementary is the best!!!!!!

Today is the day to say and feel "Thank you" in as many ways as you can. Return "thanks" today to those who have done things for you. Be thankful for the little things and look for every opportunity to say "Thank you"! "Thank you" -- just two words with potential power! And all they need is YOU to put the power in them. Take time to thank your students for their good behavior and their desire to learn and be the best that they can be. Thank you for being a wonderful staff !

It's feels GREAT to be back! I love the Holidays, but it's always good to get back into the routine of school. Happy New Year Everyone!!!!

I hope everyone had a joyous and restful holiday season. I am glad to be back and grateful that our students have returned safely. I look forward to working with them this semester.

We're Back!

It's a new beginning for us all, and we're so happy to be a part of such a great team at Wood River Primary. We look forward to warmer weather and a beautiful spring filled with learning and hope for the future.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year's. I know I did. We went to see our grandson, Evan, in El Paso. Even though he wears me out, I already miss him.
